Gas Furnaces

Gas is a very common fuel used to heat homes. If you live in an area that offers natural gas, you will have a meter and a regulator on the outside of our home. This is connected to your furnace and is used as fuel to produce heat. Gas heat is dry heat and very economical. It heats quickly and burns clean. Gas is one of the most popular ways to heat residential buildings. Residential gas furnaces have a blower in them that circulates the warm air through your home through the ducts. Return vents, or registers, bring the air back from your rooms to the furnace to be heated. Propane can also be used if you live in an area, such as in a rural area, and you do not have access to natural gas. Propane heaters work the same way as natural gas, but the fuel is stored in a tank outside your home. See more here @ fix-myac.com

If you have a gas furnace, it is recommended that you also have carbon monoxide detectors. These detect the colorless and odorless gas that can be the result of a faulty gas system. Carbon monoxide can cause serious health complications and even death. Regular maintenance and seasonal inspections will ensure your family’s safety and our NATE certified HVAV technicians can perform this service to keep your family safe and your gas furnace operating at its peak. Electric FurnacesElectric furnaces are also very efficient and give you a constant even heat. Unlike a gas furnace there is no flame, but use either a heat pump which adds heat to your home’s air or a forced air system which uses a heating element and a blower. Heat pumps are much smaller than furnaces and work like an air conditioner in reverse. They are ideal for small homes, condos, and apartments since the area to be heated is not very large. Larger homes benefit from electric furnaces since they produce more heat than a heat pump. An inspection by our NATE-certified HVAV technicians can help you to choose which type of electric heating system you should consider. Regular Maintenance and Inspections

In order for your heating system to be ready when you need it, it is recommended that you have it inspected before and after the cold weather season. The filter needs to be changed, the system needs to be checked for any leaks, or carbon monoxide, if it is gas, the combustion chamber needs to be cleaned and the ducts need to be cleared of any debris. Our NATE-certified HVAC technicians can perform regular heater maintenance, inspect your heating system, and make necessary repairs. Contact us today for a free inspection and estimate. We install and repair most major heating systems. Don’t get left out in the cold. Let Groff’s Heating and Air Conditioning take care of all of your heating needs.

How to get rid of fleas on your pets

How to get rid of fleas in your house

Understanding how to get rid of fleas in your house can most easily begin by understanding where fleas come from and how they live and survive. Once you have a grasp on what type of environment they thrive in, you can take steps to modify your home’s environment to make it unsuitable for these parasitic creatures. Fleas live on host mammals and feed off of their blood. Eggs can be left on the host mammal, but can also fall off and accumulate in all areas that the host comes in contact with, such as beds, clothes, carpets, vehicles, and furniture. Eggs will normally hatch in one to two weeks and will emerge as flea larvae. Larvae can live for up to 200 days in carpets and bedding before transforming into pupae. Pupae can survive for over a year if the conditions are not right for their transformation into adulthood. This means that ridding your home of eggs is just as important as ridding it of adult fleas.Fles control san antonio check us out here @ pest-control-sa.com
One popular and effective treatment for flea infestations is Frontline Plus. This treatment is applied topically on the back of the neck of your pet. The hair should be spread so that the treatment is applied directly to the skin of the animal in a place where it is difficult or impossible for them to lick or scratch at the medication. Frontline claims that it will kill 98-100% of adult fleas within 24 hours of application and will also kill larvae and eggs to prevent future outbreaks. The treatment is waterproof for up to 30-days,at which point, it is recommended to retreat for prevention of future infestations. Advantage is another popular choice amongst pet lovers and veterinarians for the treatment and prevention of fleas. Advantage will stop the fleas from biting your pet within three to five minutes and kills 98 – 100% of fleas within 12 hours of application.

99% of larvae will be killed within 20 minutes and the medication will remain waterproof and effective for a full month. If you have a small animal, such as a puppy or a kitten, chemical treatments are not a safe and viable choice for your pet. Generally speaking, pets under the age of eight weeks should not be treated with flea control medication. Bathing your small pet in a bath of water and baby shampoo or dish soap followed by a thorough brushing with a flea comb can be an effective way of flea treatment. Properly cleaning your home after identifying that you have a flea problem is highly suggested as another method of how to get rid of fleas in your house. Vacuum all upholstered objects, wash rugs, bedding, and clothing in warm soapy water, and clean all outdoor areas that your pet frequents by drenching it in warm soapy water. Make sure you remain diligent in your efforts and try to prevent the problem before it starts. Any time you plan to administer medication to your pet, it is recommended that you consult with your veterinarian prior to treatment.
